Equipment
Company founder, Peter Thompson, also a keen boat builder, designed and built both Clearwater tugs and barge to assist in the dredging of the Mahurangi River.
“Clearwater” the 11.5m tug launched in 2013, is designed for shallow waters and is extremely maneuverable under the power of two 180hp Cummins engines. Clearwaters grip on the water is such that from cruising speed, she can stop at her own length.
“Clearwater II” Tug launched 2014 and was designed as a push tug with an Aluminium hull, measuring 7m in length.
Clearwater Barge is a 20m dredge barge made of 16mm steel with a 109m3 bin. Both Clearwater and Cleawater II have the ability to manouver the barge.
